I have booked a raft/float trip through Rimrock Adventures in Fruita, Colorado. The event will take place on Saturday, June 25, 2022. We are scheduled to meet at Rimrock Adventures at 9:45am, and we’ll begin our adventure at 10:00 am. This gives us a chance to get there, pay, sign waivers, use the bathroom etc. This is a 90-minute float down The Colorado River and does NOT include WHITEWATER rafting. This is “Adventure Light” for those of us who like the idea of adventure and would love to have a fun time with friends and other like-minded light adventure seekers, without [necessarily] putting our lives at risk. This is a way to do that.
Currently, we have 4 women who have said they’re interested in participating. We have reached the minimum participation number. Woohoo! It’s a go! The cost is $48 per person. I recommend that you pay with cash, as they do charge an extra 4% for credit/debit card transactions.
After the float has ended, we’ll be shuttled back to Fruita, where we’ll have lunch. We’ll probably eat at Hot Tomato Pizza in old-town Fruita. It’s a casual place where they serve the very best thin crust pizza in Colorado! There are other choices, and we’ll take a vote, if, for some odd reason you just really hate pizza. ?? (I mean really. Who hates pizza?) Oh well, they make their own dough daily, hand-stretch it, and proof it for a day. (it’s the best!) Gluten-free options are available, in a smaller, individual sized pizza. Beer, wine, and soda are also available.
If you live in the Grand Valley, this will be a fun local adventure. I highly recommend that everyone treat their hometown with the same wonder and excitement as you feel when traveling to a new city or town. This is your chance! The rafts will hold up to 10 people, so we do have room for more participants. If you’re interested, please PM me to confirm your attendance.
If you’re coming in from Denver or some other location, this is also an excellent weekend to head out to the western slope, as The Colorado Lavender Festival will also be in full swing at this time. You can participate in free, self-guided tours of the local lavender farms on either Friday or Sunday. The festival, including live music and arts and crafts vendors, will be happening on Saturday at Riverbend Park in Palisade. The cost to attend this festival is only $5. With that price, all activities within the festival are offered at no additional charge. This includes cooking and various craft instructions etc. as well as vendors so you can do a little shopping if you like. Some tickets are available at the festival. Another fun event they’ll be having in association with The Lavender Festival that Saturday night, is a lavender/wine pairing dinner at Maison La Belle Vie Winery in The Redlands. The cost for this event is $105 so I’m not signing up unless or until you do!
FYI, as much as I would like to put out of town Colorado Adventurers up in my home, my home is much too small for this! So you’ll need to book a room at one of the great local hotels in the Grand Junction area. It’s not too soon to be thinking about this now. That weekend is going to be busy around here, so the sooner you book, the better chance you have of getting a great room.
I look forward to this event and getting to see and spend time with my fellow Colorado Light Adventurers! (Or is that “Adventurers of Light?”)
